Statistics
I’ve developed a simple statistical system to give players a framework in which to play; they coma as Physical Stats and Skills.
Physical Stats
Everyone has 2 hits per location.
The first hit is a Flesh Wound; it incapacitates the location until your character receives 15 minutes of rest. Then although damaged and causing some pain the location is working again. The second hit is a Critical hit and causes the location to effectively die (with the obvious consequences to if its your body or head). Some enemies may be able to deliver Critical damage in a single blow!
Everyone has 10 sanity.
Sanity is an integral feature of any Cthulhu game, It is lost as you discover the
true nature of existence, and can effect your role-
Every time you lose a sanity point it creates a temporary lose of nerve, making your character more cautious, and unsure of themselves, for 15 minutes. The severity of this reaction gets worse as your characters Sanity is reduced or if your lose more than one Sanity point at once!
Sanity 1: Your character is very jumpy and nervous of everything. Fight or Flight takes over in stressful situations.
Sanity 0: You've lost it, everyone and everything is a risk your not willing to take. Play your character out as appropriate.
Everyone has 3 points of luck.
Luck can be used to supplement your characters skill, advancing it to an almost supernatural level. It can be used to confer damage from one location to another, while at the same time reducing it's severity (the flesh wound is only a graze, or that critical hit to the head becomes a flesh wound to the arm!). Luck can be used almost anywhere, if you get an idea during the game ask and we'll see if we can make it work.
